Team Intro
The SAMI team's mission is to empower content interaction and creation across ByteDance products using speech & audio related technologies. We focus on cutting-edge R&D in areas like speech & audio, music processing, natural language understanding and multimodal deep learning. We are looking for top talents to work on these exciting technologies, integrate them into various ByteDance products and ultimately bring joy to our global user base!
Responsibilities
As a Tech Lead Software Engineer of SAMI team, you are expected to:
- Engage with internal applied research customers to understand their needs and goals, and use this knowledge to drive the development and evolution of our deep learning infrastructure.
- Lead the training and inference optimization of speech, audio & multimodal-related AI models, by identifying and implementing best practices and open-source solutions to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Provide technical leadership, drive projects and define long-term technical roadmaps, including technology development, as well as team planning and management.
- Provide team guidance, education, coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
- A deep understanding of AI/ML, including ML frameworks, public cloud and commercial AI/ML solutions - familiarity with Pytorch, HuggingFace, DDP/FSDP or DeepSpeed is preferred.
- Experience in building and scaling distributed systems, and experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, e.g., Kubernetes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills - building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions
- A passion for staying up to date with the latest trends and technologies in AI/ML - in the cloud and on device - experience with ONNX, NVidia TensorRT, OpenAI Triton, is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, multi-functional environment.

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $210000 - $358000 annually.Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
