About the Team TikTok USDS Offensive Security Operations team is seeking a Technical Security Controls Validation Lead. You will collaborate with and manage a team of professionals with the responsibility of working with the Risk & Compliance team and Control Owners to perform testing of the tools, technology and services (TTS) being introduced in the USDS environment. This testing effort will be done both from how the control framework is being applied to individual TTS and also to test how those TTS are efficiently performing and behaving as a security control within the environment.

To succeed in this role, this person will possess leadership and management experience, familiarity with risk control frameworks (https://e.g., NIST, ISO), breadth and depth of knowledge in secure coding principles, security architecture, hardening of operating systems, networking protocols, firewalls, databases and middleware applications, forensics, scripting and programing.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a team of testers and act as the primary interface and lead for controls validation and efficiency testing

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and control owners, utilize USDS control framework to stress test the controls being applied and implemented on TTS in the USDS environment

  • Consult and provide guidance for the design and implementation of key security and compliance controls. Augment the Control Framework and Risk Management Framework from an attacker's point of view.

  • Construct technical test cases, collect evidence, perform hands on technical testing. Work with Control Owners to evaluate the design, effectiveness, and completeness of controls.

  • Perform light threat modelling and conduct penetration tests on TTS to ensure that they are operating efficiently.

  • Look for automation opportunities to automate testing and monitoring efficiency of controls on an ongoing basis.

  • Provide risk-appropriate and pragmatic recommendations to correct identified flaws, vulnerabilities and misconfigurations

  • Communicate findings and strategy effectively to client stakeholders, including technical staff, executive leadership, and legal counsel

  • Define and maintain a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Rules of Engagement (ROE), Methodologies and checklist for various Control Testing domains

  • Utilize attacker tools, tactics, and procedures to perform analysis and identify vulnerabilities

  • Procure, develop, maintain and refine an inventory of security tools needed for various operations

  • Identify, collect, and report KPI metrics related to program progress, operations, and findings Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree or industry equivalent work experience in IT, Computer Engineering or a similar field

  • Minimum 8+ years of IT risk, pentest and security controls experience

  • Experience in a security and/or IT risk management role

  • Strong writing and documentation skills; you are clear, concise, confident, and unafraid to present your ideas

  • Effective communicator with experience of working in a fast paced dynamic environment, where prioritization and cross functional collaboration is the key to success

  • Flexible to travel as the need arises to perform testing on-site https://e.g. Data centers, office locations etc. (Estimated Frequency: once in 2-3 months)

  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, in particular in working with or contributing to multi-functional teams

  • Experience working with security technology and products such as Firewalls, IDS, IPS, VPC, CSPM

  • Knowledge of various cloud platforms (preferably OCI, Azure and AWS) and frameworks like OWASP Top 10 Web and Mobile

  • Ability to think holistically, drive large scale efforts as a SME, promote automation for efficiency and coverage

  • Controls Testing

    • Familiarity in IT and security domains (Identity and Access Management, Configuration Management, Vulnerability Management, Incident Management, etc.) and familiarity with technologies and tool stacks across these domains
    • Skills in control evaluation and design and working knowledge of industry leading security standards (https://i.e., ISO, NIST)
    • Experience working with regulatory compliance efforts https://e.g., PCI etc.
    • Experience performing internal/external control testing as security control assessor or supporting security compliance as internal compliance resources of physical and cloud infrastructure
    • Experience in gathering technical control evidence from stakeholders, coordinating review, and analyzing artifacts received to ensure they meet the intent of the control requirements and demonstrate compliance
    • Foundational knowledge of IT and security control frameworks (https://e.g., NIST-CSF, NIST 800-53, PCI-DSS, CIS Security Controls, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, etc.)
    • Familiar with the usage of modern GRC tooling (https://i.e., Archer, ServiceNow)
  • Pentesting

    • 5+ years of experience performing penetration tests (https://i.e., Cloud, Web-application, mobile application and various network ecosystems)
    • Well-rounded background in application, network, and system security
    • Experience with using, administering, and troubleshooting different flavors of Linux and Windows environments
    • Experience with reading, writing, and editing code written in various programming languages, such as Perl, Python, Ruby, Bash, C/C++, C#, and Java
    • Experience in various Operating Systems: Windows, *nix, MacOS, Android, iOS
    • Experience with tools like Burp Suite Pro, SQLMap, Frida, Objection, Android Studio, XCode, MobSF, Drozer
    • Experience with security assessment tools, including Nessus, Accunetix, Metasploit, or Cobalt Strike
    • Experience with conducting reverse engineering on mobile applications, including applications with anti-emulator and obfuscation protections
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Industry certifications such as OSCP, OSCE, OSED, OSWE, GPEN, GMOB, GXPN, GCIH, GWAPT, CISA, CDPSE, CISSP, CISM, CRIS or GXPN
    • Contributions to the security community such as research, public CVEs, bug-bounty recognitions, open-source projects, blogs, publications, etc
    • Experience with server administration, TCP/IP networking, vulnerability identification and exploitation, vulnerability exploit code development, offensive security operation coordination and communication, vulnerability tracking and remediation, mobile testing
    • Experience with methodologies on both static and dynamic analysis for different application types and platform

#LI-JC5 The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $147200 - $269800 annually.​Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
