Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Powertrain Calibration & Evaluation Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Drivability Performance Development Engineer
The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and incorporate vehicle performance targets which achieve drivability needs for North American market thru vehicle testing and simulation.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Powertrain Calibration & Evaluation department's objective to develop world class powertrains which exceed our customer’s expectations.
What you’ll be doing
Develop and implement power performance and drivability requirements into North American vehicle development for conventional and electrified drivetrains.
Benchmark competitor vehicles and understand N.A. market conditions to determine appropriate vehicle targets.
Plan and execute vehicle level testing, both in a chassis dynamometer and on-road.
Analyze technical data, develop appropriate countermeasures, and negotiate implementation.
Collaborate with a cross-functional group including part design engineers, performance development engineers, and manufacturing to achieve overall vehicle requirements.
Conduct field issue investigation, suitability trips, and technical research projects.
Other duties as assigned.
What you bring
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Performance evaluation work experience in the mobility industry
Willingness and ability to travel, domestically and internationally as required (10%)
Willingness to work overtime as required.
Experience with analyzing and summarizing large data sets
Experience with complex system evaluation including sensor instrumentation, data acquisition, and data processing
Project Management experience (schedule, task, open issue management)
Acceptable driving record
What you may bring
Experience with transmission hardware and control calibration
Experience with 1D simulation tools such as GT-Suite, MATLAB/Simulink.
Experience leading evaluation testing trips with subjective & objective data collection
Capability to create and utilize scripts using languages such as Python, MATLAB and VBA.
