Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Electronic Systems Functional Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer.

The primary responsibility of this role is to design and develop parts for vehicle exterior lighting.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the Electronic Systems Functional department's objective to design and develop exterior lighting parts.

What you’ll be doing

• Coordinate the design and development of exterior lamp parts.

• Follow responsible parts of a vehicle project from concept stage through design, validation and launch, including problem-solving of technical issues.

• Plan structure of exterior lamp parts, utilizing target setting and studying packaging and style feasibility.

• Execute 2D and 3D design in CAD (CATIA) either independently or by leading supplier engineers or CAD modelers.

• Participate in evaluation and manufacturing activities at the event location – both domestic and international.

• Proactively improve design quality and cost for responsible vehicles in production.

• Weekly reporting to management.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering

• Engineering experience in a professional setting (internship, full-time, or engineering organization such as FSAE)

• Experience using CAD systems

• Good communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with suppliers, affiliates, and Toyota Motor Corporation (Japan)

• Strong analytical problem-solving skills

What you may bring

• Automotive engineering design experience

• Engineering design experience related to lighting (automotive or general)

• Experience using CATIA V5

• Project management experience including coordination of suppliers

• Leadership experience in an engineering environment, setting, or task
