    Who we’re looking for

    Toyota Engineering’s Powertrain Design & Evaluation department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Hybrid Transmission and Motor Evaluation Engineer.

    The primary responsibility of this role is to test Toyota’s local Hybrid Transaxle and Motor products.

    Reporting to the Manager, the person in this role will support the Powertrain Design & Evaluation department's objective to provide highly attractive and competitively designed, locally produced transmissions and motors to our customers.

    What you’ll be doing

    • Coordinate durability and function testing on Transmission and Motor dynamometers for local components following Toyota’s evaluation process
    • TARGET SETTING: Understand, follow, and modify the performance targets to meet Toyota quality
    • PLAN:  Select an evaluation plan for localized components based on local design or manufacturing change points
    • EXECUTE:  Collaborate with Technicians to complete the testing on in-house or vendor Dynamometers
    • ANALYSIS:  Collect, analyze, and visualize test results to make a judgement
    • REPORT:  Communicate your conclusion to the Design, Supplier, and Manufacturing teams both locally and in Japan to gain consensus on the result
    • Solve technical problems with the Design of localized Transmissions and Motors
    • Solve process problems, introducing innovative evaluation methods to always improve the efficiency and effectiveness
    • Travel less than 10%
    • Overtime 5 hours per week on average

    What you bring

    • Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    • Powertrain evaluation experience in Transmission, Motor or Engine (or combined experience).
    • Experience using Matlab, or similar data analysis software
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with designers, suppliers, affiliates, and Toyota Motor Corporation (Japan)
    • Flexibility to problem solve, issue analysis and interact with others in a fast-paced multicultural work environment
    • Passion for product development
    • General understanding and application of standard engineering theory, principles and problem solving
    • Effective project management and time management skills
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally including Japan, Mexico, Canada
    • This position requires driving.  A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position.

    Added bonus if you have

    • Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) evaluation/testing experience
    • Experience using wireless data acquisition
    • Team leader experience directing engineering development
    • Project management skills including coordination of technology/technical service vendors and suppliers
    • Experience using Toyota’s Panel4 data acquisition software
