    Who we’re looking for

    Connected Technologies is a newly formed group within Toyota, focused on delivering industry-leading user experiences and new technologies for our Toyota and Lexus vehicles. We’re looking for a passionate and highly motivated Software Engineering Manager for our Platform Engineering team. In this role you will be responsible for building a strong engineering culture at Connected Technologies (CT) to develop state-of-the-art mobile and backend applications and infrastructure by attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent.

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Build and manage a focused engineering team and guide the development and operation of infrastructure, tools, and applications to support Infrastructure Security
    • Maintain and improve existing Infrastructure codebases and contribute technically to the overall engineering processes followed in Connected Technologies
    • Review, design, and vet architecture, system design to solve complex distributed system problems with scale and security
    • Identify and encourage adoption of new technologies, tools, processes for the organization as needed
    • Be a thoughtful technical voice and support your team in making diligent architectural and operational decisions
    • Manage engineering teams and drive new initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
    • Collaborate with engineers, managers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter
    • Recruit top talent and scale team/s, conduct performance reviews for software engineers
    • Coach your direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and chart a fulfilling career path

    What you bring:

    • Proven experience in SRE, infrastructure, or security engineering
    • Excellent experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management
    • Demonstrated experience building or running production-grade observability or constraint systems
    • You know what high quality code — and software engineering systems — look like and know how to foster an environment that creates them
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to both your team members and your project peers
    • Demonstrated success influencing senior level stakeholders on strategic direction based on recommendations backed by in-depth analysis

    Added bonus if you have:

    • Experience working with product management, and UX design to define product strategy
    • Experience working within a data-driven culture to improve the efficiency of continuous deliver, scalability, stability, and security of software
    • Strong perspective that inspires change and motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to hard problems
    • Track record of delivering new products and iteratively improving them over time

    This position is based in Plano, TX. Toyota encourages all employees to live within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned work location. Hybrid work from outside the assigned work location may be permitted in a pre- approved list of states with certain stipulations.
