    Who we’re looking for

    Connected Technologies is a newly formed group within Toyota, focused on delivering industry-leading user experiences and new technologies for our Toyota and Lexus vehicles. We’re looking for a highly passionate and driven Software Engineering Manager for our CTP Core Engineering team. In this role you will be responsible for building a strong engineering culture at Connected Technologies (CT) to develop state-of-the-art mobile and backend applications and infrastructure by attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent.

    This position is based in Plano, TX. Toyota encourages all employees to live within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned work location. Hybrid work from outside the assigned work location may be permitted in a pre-approved list of states with certain stipulations.     What you’ll be doing:

    • Provide technical leadership to build high-quality performant solutions that scale well conforming to internal and industry standards
    • Manage engineering teams and drive new initiatives in a fast-paced environment
    • Manage internal and external dependencies, collaborate with stakeholders and product managers, operations, customer research teams to deliver Toyota's business objectives
    • Maintain and improve existing codebases and contribute technically to the overall engineering processes followed in Connected Technologies
    • Review, design and vet architecture, system design to solve complex distributed system problems with scale and security
    • Collaborate with Senior Management, Product Managers, Tech Leads, UI/UX and help build backlogs for product
    • Identify and encourage adoption of new technologies, tools, processes for the organization as needed.
    • Unblock Engineers and ensure project milestones are met
    • Recruit top talent and scale team/s, conduct performance reviews for software engineers

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Strategic thinker with a customer-first mindset and a desire for creative problem solving

    What you bring:

    • Proven experience in software engineering, including leading tech teams
    • Experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management
    • Experience designing and implementing large scale distributed systems catering to consumer products with languages such as Java, Golang, JavaScript
    • Demonstrated success influencing senior level stakeholders on strategic direction based on recommendations backed by in-depth analysis

    Added bonus if you have:

    • Experience building and leading great software teams to deliver world-class products
    • Experience working with Engineering teams, product management, and UX design to define product strategy
    • Experience working in a data-driven culture to improve the efficiency of continuous deliver, scalability, stability, and security of software
    • Bring a strong perspective that inspires change and motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to hard problems
