We’re looking for an exceptional attorney to support product development for several of Uber’s biggest growth delivery businesses, from Grocery, Retail and Alcohol, to other New Verticals and Direct (white label) delivery. The Delivery Legal team tackles novel challenges, offering strategic counsel to Product, Engineering and Operations teams as new features, entire lines of business, and critical partner integrations are introduced on the Uber platform across the globe.

This unique role offers an opportunity to shape Uber’s efforts to affordably, reliably, and safely deliver all of life’s necessary and exciting items – if you’re passionate about transforming local commerce, come and join this bold team.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead reviews of products and features, and coordinate global reviews with our regional partners, positioning these products/features to reduce risk from product development through launch.
  • Understand, interpret and apply laws and regulations to Uber’s business models, resolving a wide-range of issues, including consumer protection, privacy, data security, transactional and commercial law, litigation risk, property, and licensing.
  • Be an active and trusted business partner, delivering timely, actionable advice
  • Provide feedback on a range of sophisticated issues. It's our job to peer around corners for the business and ensure that we are well-positioned for the future.
  • Draft terms and conditions, FAQs, disclaimers, and policies governing the use of Uber products and services.
  • Build policies and practices to ensure consistent implementation of legal guidance.
  • Be a strong communicator and collaborator to effectively support a high-performing team and outside counsel to achieve our legal and regulatory priorities

Basic Qualifications

  • J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of legal experience in private practice, government, and/or in-house.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6+ years of legal experience in private practice, government, and/or in-house.
  • Strong team orientation, with confidence and flexibility to perform in forward-thinking, constantly evolving and growing environments.
  • Collaborative approach with both business and legal groups, with strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others.
  • Experience comparing and contrasting regulations in multiple global markets.
  • Outstanding legal skills, mature judgment, innovative thinking and the desire to take the initiative, while thinking proactively.
  • Ability to translate complex legal issues and ambiguity into clear and simple advice, to communicate effectively with non-legal internal colleagues, and to interface with a broad range of senior business managers, executives and other colleagues and professionals across our company.
  • History of driving efficient and strategic use of resources, including technical groups, in-house counsel, vendors, and outside counsel.
  • Passionate about your work and a desire to have a big impact.
  • Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics and accountability.
