Performs CT exams and general radiology imaging procedures per department protocol. Responsible for daily operations within the Imaging - CT Department/routine x-ray, including patient schedules, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment. Participates in daily huddles, provides customer service, and communication performing their duties.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Following physicians' orders, produces CT images and routine x-ray images per departmental protocol for the use in diagnosing medical problems. Verifies valid provider order. Follows standard of work

• Follows customer service protocols with internal/external staff. Exhibits teamwork. Greets, correctly identifies patient, prepares patient for examination, and explains specific procedures to be performed in appropriate confidential area

• Obtain necessary consents from the patients and verifies required lab values; Initiates, maintains and discontinues IV access

• Accurately maintains patient’s imaging records utilizing the radiology information systems, (R.I.S.), Touch Works (All scripts), and PACS/Synapse application in accordance to HIPAA, and established SMA guidelines, Policies and procedures as necessary and appropriate for their work. Makes appropriate communication to appropriate persons as necessary

• Processes CT images/ radiologic digital images, examines for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability, and generates additional plans of images as needed for the Radiologist review

• Knowledgeable process for transferring images into the PAC/Synapse computer system (downtime process, print, Cd copy per protocol). Prepares copies of images, preliminary reports, and contacts referring physician when required according to established procedures

• Participates in meetings/huddles with attendance and discussion

• Maintains Imaging equipment, work area, and ensures adequate supplies are available, follows all safety standards and uses radiation protection when operating CT equipment/General x-ray equipment

• Maintains attendances with work schedules. Flexible to work other modalities provided incumbent is trained passing department competencies, certified or licensed in those modalities. Flexible to work other sites, shifts, and dates based on operational needs. Technologist is able to rotate through on-call schedules to fit operational needs

• Will comply with annual mandatory Fit testing, TB testing as a job requirement. Maintain mandatory web courses as assigned. Maintain licensures and certificates

Required Qualifications:

• High school education or equivalent experience
• Education/Certification:
  • Graduate of an approved AMA Radiologic Technology program
  • Current ARRT(R) certification
  • ARRT (C) certification in CT or within 12 months of hire 
  • Current CPR certification 
  • Current State of Nevada license
• Knowledge and experience in performing General radiology routine x-ray
• Advanced knowledge of CT (imaging) equipment, testing and safety hazards related to radiology
• Comprehensive knowledge of CT (imaging) positioning/procedures and diagnosis
• Advanced understanding in the axial, coronal and sagittal planes of CT images
• Proven ability to effectively communicate technical procedures and results with patients and providers
• Skilled in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging
• Skilled in starting and stopping IV's (using IV catheters) for contrast injection
• Basic computer skills
• Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Nevada Residents Only: The hourly range for Nevada residents is $28.85 to $51.30.
