    General Summary:

    This individual is accountable for leading and delivering complex strategic, transformational, and growth projects with the goal of achieving a superior experience for customer/stakeholders and operational excellence within our Colonial Life Organization.

    Focus will be primarily on large scale, transformational opportunities. The incumbent will work closely with senior leadership, field partners, and management stakeholders to prioritize and align business opportunities with strategic goals of the company and within internal business units and then deliver on those opportunities via targeted projects. This individual is expected to lead, execute, and implement change and shares ownership with senior leadership for achieving goals and objectives for these projects. These initiatives and solutions support business and organizational strategic centered around the customer experience, business growth, productivity, and improving risk management and controls. This role requires technical skills, analytical skills, and understanding of multiple business areas and functions, balanced with ability to clearly and concisely communicate with management across all levels of the organization. This position may also be responsible for establishing and measuring progress against annual improvement goals.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Deliver measurable and transformative business and operational strategy solutions.
    • Lead large transformational projects (cross and multi-functional teams) within business areas and across the enterprise to design and implement business strategic and operational service model and process changes.
    • Strategize, build, and execute on solutions to complex problems, requiring a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation.
    • Leverage best practices in transformation in the industry, including emerging technologies, analytics, and operational effectiveness.
    • Work directly on the largest, most complex projects and lead initiative teams.
    • Analyze and synthesize significant amounts of information to quantify business opportunities and issues to develop strategy and recommendations.
    • Establish strong, effective, and collaborative partnerships with key business area leaders, field partners, project managers, and subject matter experts, ensuring a deep understanding of strategic direction and priorities for the organization.
    • Lead efforts to identify specific business opportunities to address business needs or problems; help build effective solutions and develop and drive plans to ensure successful implementation.
    • Responsible for developing and implementing change enablement plans, including championing a cultural change towards a customer centric organization, focused on end to end customer experience, operational excellence, forward looking insights, process management, and efficiency.
    • Drive increased knowledge and skills through the organization in the following areas: emerging technologies, analytics, and business acumen.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Job Specifications

    • BA/BS required, MBA preferred.
    • 7+years experience in business consulting or a transformation role, to include working with customers and key internal stakeholders.
    • Familiarity with Agency Distribution Model.
    • Extensive experience managing large, broad, cross and multifunctional projects.
    • Experience with and passion for managing teams and developing people.
    • Proven ability to for developing process improvements
    • Passion for enabling highly effective management and leadership processes and driving operational and organizational change.
    • Broad business knowledge to include, but is not limited to, legal, compliance, marketing, finance, operational, and technology.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills (clear, concise oral and written communication).
    • Exceptional presentation and influencing skills with all levels of leadership and business management; adept at handling group dynamics.
    • Demonstrated experience in driving business transformation and drive change (including mastery of a broad range of service model/strategy/transformational/process improvement tools and approaches – e.g. Design Thinking, Six Sigma).
    • Synthesis of analysis and research into strategic insights and practical recommendations, including strategic, risk, financial, and operational analysis.
    • Demonstrated strength in the creation of simple and effective business communications and presentations to build the case for change and rationale for recommendations to gain executive support throughout the project.
    • Comfortable asking tough questions – challenging senior management throughout the transformation process.
    • Highly self motivated – will go the extra mile to get the job done right and “wow” our clients.
    • Superior consulting and advisory skills; ability to think conceptually, handle ambiguity, solve complex problems, and make thoughtful recommendations.
    • Some travel required.

    The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

    $109,600.00-$197,700.00

    Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.  All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
