What you’ll be doing...

Verizon’s Corporate Strategy’s New Business team defines the next generation of Verizon’s growth. From developing brand new Verizon capabilities to establishing partnerships with the biggest names in tech, this group is at the forefront of innovation; we are carving out Verizon’s role in the fourth industrial revolution.

Reporting to the Vice President of New Business Strategy, the Director of New Business Strategy will be responsible for helping to identify, assess, and recommend new, large-scale strategic growth opportunities for Verizon, including market expansion, creative business models, and innovative partnership opportunities. A major focus of this role will be around 5G and Edge Computing (MEC).

The role will include:

• Strategically leveraging research and analytics to understand market dynamics, trends, size, segmentation, competitive landscape, etc., leading to recommendations for Verizon
• Monitoring and evaluating major disruptions across the TMT landscape, especially related to multi-access edge computing (MEC) and new connectivity technologies (5G, LEO, Metaverse)
• Leading engagements with Network & Technology, Corporate Development, and VZ Business units to enhance the 5G Ecosystem strategy and define new opportunities
• Owning communication and stakeholdering recommendations within the strategy team and across the broader organization
• Pitching and negotiating long-term, scale opportunities with new and existing partners
• Generating materials for SVP, EVP, CEO, and Board discussions

What we’re looking for...

You are a proactive go-getter, a creative and innovative thinker. You are professionally polished with sound business acumen, deep financial knowledge, and excellent research and analytical skills. You know how to get to the right answers in a short amount of time with limited guidance. You can handle ambiguity and information overload. Talking to people comes very naturally to you and you have an ability to communicate and present complex information in a way that people understand – whether verbal or written. You have experience in collaborating with a diverse set of stakeholders to get results across multiple groups and functional teams. You know how to collaborate across a large, diverse organization while maintaining independent perspective. You have strong analytical capabilities balanced with soft skills such as listening and observing while communicating in a meaningful way. You have a sincere willingness to learn and work with a team.

You’ll need to have:

• 8+ years of relevant work experience in top-tier consulting, finance, corporate strategy, M&A/partnerships, and/or business development
• Telecom, tech, and/or media experience, with a robust understanding of the major players in the space
• Exceptional communication skills – written and verbal

Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, market analysis and creative thought leadership

Even better if you have:

• MBA from a top-tier institution
• Exposure to data centers and/or edge computing
• Knowledge of Verizon’s product portfolio, both consumer and business
• Experience working in large matrixed environments including cross-functional collaboration with a diverse set of stakeholders to get results across multiple groups and disciplines throughout the organization
• Proven track record of negotiation and partnership development
