What you’ll be doing...
As the Director of Product Innovation, you will be responsible for identifying and integrating new Product opportunities based on feedback from customer needs and for commercializing new/emerging technologies across the Verizon Business Group (VBG) Product portfolio.
The Director is responsible for leading a team of technology experts responsible for the evaluation, implementation, and demonstration of early lifecycle and pre-commercialization technology. This position is at the leading edge of product development, working with our Corporate Strategy, VBG Strategy, and Corporate Technology teams to assess new technologies and deliver the ‘art of the possible.’
This role with lead VBG tech where it matters. This includes identifying and collaborating with the right technology ecosystem and creating technical roadmaps and providing direction and insight for the rest of the product organization by ruthlessly evaluating technologies for commercialization and developing use cases to showcase our technology leadership position.
The role requires high engagement, extensive collaboration, and strong partnerships with stakeholder organizations. It requires the ability to influence direction by raising visibility of trends, issues, and opportunities across the organization. It also requires attention to details to connect the dots and ensure the long-term technology trends are harnessed. The successful candidate must possess strong analytical skills and interpret data to provide recommendations to the leadership team, which includes coaching and performance evaluation, planning and prioritizing of initiatives using available resources, and providing technical expertise, decision-making and direction to both direct and indirect teams.
Lead implementation of emerging technologies across Product management portfolio
Source and establish partners for realizing new use cases
Partner with network and business product organization to validate/trial new use cases
Establish technology strategy, assessments, roadmap, and relationships tied to vertical strategy outlook one to three years out
Introduce new concepts and strategies and study and assesses how they will impact the industry and company
Lead planning meetings to discuss technology potential with internal organizations and outside organizations
Partner with the VBG, network, and device technology organizations to make sure the needs of the business group are cared for as part of the technology decision journey
Work with key technology leaders to gain insight into the latest trends and needs
What we’re looking for...
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience; Master’s degree or MBA preferred
10+ years technology experience engaged in strategy development and analysis of device technology
5+ years of experience in leadership and people management roles
Experience building, delivering, and commercializing new technologies at scale
Strategic planning and competitive analysis
Proven experience commercializing cutting edge technologies/solutions
In-depth knowledge of emerging technologies, like 5G
Proven ability to identify/source new partners for new use cases
Strong track record of collaboration and stakeholder management
Strong track record of identifying and delivering creative opportunities to achieve business organization goals
Ability to effectively manage relationships with cross-functional partners to drive projects toward completion
Superior leadership and communication skills; strong organizational and team building skills
Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a dynamic environment
