What you’ll be doing...

As Principal Engineer in the Network System Database Team, you will be assisting the database professionals with your strong expertise on the database technologies for the high availability and performance of the databases, driving operational efficiency by enabling automation and supporting key initiatives.

• Provide support on a wide range of database development and administration functions in a RAC configuration, including troubleshooting database issues, advising clients on new database features, and leading studies to evaluate the effectiveness of current database architecture

• Work closely with stakeholders (onshore and offshore) to troubleshoot live application issues in the timely fashion (CMD, Outages etc..)

• Recommend database configuration changes to increase database performance to the Database Professionals

• Bring in Industry best practices and apply in the database management

• Work collaboratively with Development, Application Support and Quality Assurance teams

• Designing architecture for high availability database and security-first approach, sizing/scalability, and performance

• Managing the day-to-day production deployment activities through CICD platform by enabling DB deployment through Flyway or Liquibase

• Facilitate to upskill team through technical training sessions and enable talent transformation

• Continuously assess and understand the operational requirements to improve operational performance and business processes.

• Should be a strategic thought partner to Influence the senior leadership to adapt and drive efficiency improvements.

• Engaging on building the reliability platform for the Database (DBRE - Database Reliability Engineering)

• Should be able to drive the AIOps for DB operations

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or four more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Six or more years of working experience in DB admin function with exposure to cloud migrations (AWS, OCI, GCP) , DB modernization, and transformation, data center consolidation.
• Strong understanding of Databases like Oracle, Postgres, Mongo and Cassandra

Even better if you have:

• Exposure on the Druid and Memsql database technologies

• Production support functions for DB maintenance and outage management

• Exposure to monitoring tools like NewRelic, Splunk, OEM etc and automation of monitoring

• Knowledge about CI/ CD using GIT, Jenkins, Flyway, Liquibase etc

• Debugging skills in traversing through DB logs

• Knowledge of Moogsoft and Python is an added advantage

• Knowledge of Telecom domain is an added advantage
