The Advanced Lead Engineer will be responsible for designing thermal management solutions for the propulsion battery system used on battery electric locomotives.  Responsible for designing the liquid cooling system for locomotive propulsion batteries and specifying and selecting system components including cold plates, disconnects, valves, etc.  Establishing thermal and mechanical requirements for the battery thermal management unit and interfacing with suppliers for respective development. The engineer will also develop equipment arrangements for liquid cooling power electronic devices used in the propulsion system of locomotives and mining vehicles, including heat exchangers, pumps, connectors, and piping.  Conduct thermal and mechanical analysis of the cooling system and lead liquid cooled power electronic system optimization with support from other design teams.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field

• A minimum of 7 years of demonstrated experience in the field of mechanical engineering, with relevant experience on electrical or electro-mechanical devices, and liquid cooled thermal management systems. 

• Experience with heat transfer through conduction, natural convection, and forced convection applications and related techniques for electronics.

What will be your key responsibilities?

In this role the engineer will lead and execute requisition projects, including design, structural and thermal analysis, validation, production launch of liquid cooled systems.  Work collaboratively with team members to develop a world class product. Support manufacturing and supply chain to achieve high levels of manufacturability and manage drawing and model updates to address issues or implement improvements.
