ANNAX, part of Wabtec Corporation, provides passenger information systems for long- and short distance trains, trams, and subways. ANNAX develops turnkey solutions including features like public and automatic announcements, travel information, infotainment, passenger emergency calls, video surveillance, operator and conductor control interfaces, seat reservation, passenger counting and fleet management. ANNAX has sites in Germany, Switzerland, and China, but our passenger information systems can be found all over the world. 

To support our System Software Team in Brunnthal, Germany, we are looking for a

C++ System Software Engineer (m/f/d)

Our passenger information system consists of up to 200 Ethernet devices. As a System Software Engineer, you will work within the complexity of a distributed embedded Linux system.

Dealing with IP network configurations and protocols, databases, real time audio and video streaming and cyber security requirements are just some of the challenging aspects of your daily work, along with devices’ diagnostics and updates, and their compatibility to third party devices.

By applying your knowledge and expertise, you will orchestrate all devices to perform a unique passenger experience in the vehicle.

Tasks

·         design module and framework extensions with OO methods

·         define tasks and work packages

·         develop, test, document and review code

·         maintain and enhance build systems

·         configure and integrate ANNAX software and Linux services

·         analyze and fix issues

·         apply cyber security rules

·         live clean code principles

·         evaluate and elaborate new technologies

Knowledge and tools

·         C++

·         Python, Bash is considered an asset

·         Unit Testing

·         UML

·         Linux, embedded Linux

·         IP devices, networks, protocols

·         SQL databases

·         documentation with doxygen, sphinx and plantuml

·         building using gcc, make, cmake, conan, yocto

·         administration of code with svn, git, gitlab

·         experience in embedded hardware is considered an asset

Profile

·         bachelor or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science or similar

·         experience in rail industry is considered an asset

·         fluent in German and English

·         motivated, independent personality

·         interested in distributed systems and enjoy working with them

·         willing to travel occasionally
