Wabtec provides vision-based wayside detectors for the rolling stock maintenance market. Its non-contact measurement technology enables highly detailed condition assessment of train components-ranging from wheel surface condition to full train inspection-on trains operating in service and at high speeds. Wabtec's wayside systems, coupled with software applications and image analysis technology, enable Train Operating Companies (TOCs) to manage fleet maintenance and operation through automatic measurements and inspections. Real-time alarms, alerts and reports enable significant reductions in maintenance costs and increase fleet availability for revenue generation.
Responsibilities:
Develop conceptual and detailed hardware designs of electrical harnesses and controls equipment to meet the functional, safety, environmental and interface requirements for a variety of robust industrial equipment
Refine new and existing designs for improved manufacturability; coordinating with vendors and design contractors to support as needed
Design, build and test prototype harnesses to support the company’s ongoing R&D efforts
Provide manufacturing and maintenance teams with support for both new and legacy products
Maintain well-written, revision-controlled documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes in accordance with Wabtec’s data management and controls policies
Support continuous improvement efforts of existing released products
Support system certification efforts (EMI/EMC, CE, etc.)
Work with other engineering, manufacturing, sales / marketing, and quality assurance staff to coordinate pilot production of new products
Assist the purchasing teams in sourcing alternative components as needed
Develop test simulations, test methods and perform required testing or data collection
Qualifications/skills:
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or other related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
At least 3 - 5 years of relevant engineering work experience
Experience with light industrial controls, PLCs and wire harnesses
Proven experience with the development of digital control system projects in the past including experience of the full development cycle
Experience with oscilloscopes, signal generators and multimeters for testing purposes
Must be able to work independently, as well as closely with others in a small team as the situation requires
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical skills, creative, innovative and open-minded
Self-motivated to expand current skill set and develop knowledge of Beena Vision product portfolio
Familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, etc)
Preference:
Experience with PCB layout software, especially Altium Designer or Altium Circuit Studio
Experience with Atlassian tool chain (Jira)
Ability to travel within the U.S. and internationally
Experience in creating the schematic, board layout, layout simulation and analysis, circuit analysis, and testing
Excellent hardware level device testing and debugging skills
Hands-on experience building and prototyping electrical assemblies
