With broad recognition as a leader in condition monitoring systems and associated technologies, Track IQ systems are installed on freight, heavy haul and passenger rail networks across 20+ countries and 6 continents. Our IoT systems use leading edge sensor technologies to acquire data from passing trains. Valuable insights on asset health are then extracted from the data using a combination of edge computing, signal processing, and artificial intelligence (AI) methods.

This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager and is focused on the ongoing engineering, support and project delivery of the Track IQ portfolio of products.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide timely and professional engineering support to the Track IQ business unit in the form of:

Electromechanical design

Identifying project / product requirements and scoping out / delivering the required technical solutions

Identifying, testing and implementing new / alternative / replacement technologies into Track IQ products

Creation and upkeep of product and project technical documentation

Provide assistance with timely and professional support of Track IQ’s install base of detectors in the form of:

Routine monitoring / reporting

Technical support / troubleshooting / fault resolution

Routine maintenance visits to detector installations

Non-routine (corrective) maintenance visits to detector installations

Software deployment

New system installation

Quote/proposal generation

Technical documentation preparation

Help instill a culture throughout the Track IQ business in line with the Wabtec values of Safety, Customer Focus, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork and Leadership Help establish, improve and maintain quality control processes, systems and documentation

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants must have:

• Tertiary or trade level qualifications in electromechanical engineering
• Proven industry experience in electromechanical engineering

Applicants will ideally have:

• Experience working with electromechanical and software systems
• Experience working in the rail industry
• Experience in customer facing roles

The following skills/traits are essential:

• Clear, effective communication and English language skills, both written and oral
• Good personal management, organisational and interpersonal skills
• Negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Competency in the installation, setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of software, electrical and mechanical systems
• Compentency in the use of Microsoft Windows operating sytems and the Microsoft Office suite of products
• Ability to create formal documentation: e.g. information request responses, quotations, work instructions, product documentation
• The ability to work under pressures of weekly, monthly and project deadlines

The following skills are useful but may be developed during the natural course of work or in targeted training courses:

• Competency in the following software and computing disciplines:
  • AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Altium CAD packages
  • SQL, Java, C, MATLAB, Python programming languages
  • Installation, configuration and maintenance of server systems
• Technical knowledge of Track IQ systems architecture, functionality, output and data interpretation
