The key aim of this role is the repair, modification and overhaul of associated train equipment in the Faiveley Transport electronic product range in the UK.

Key Duties

  • Work on own initiative or as part of a team within a dedicated team of electricians working to production deadlines.

  • To carry out repairs, modifications or overhaul of electronic equipment in accordance with work instructions and schematics.

  • To be flexible and work in any assembly area, accepting the possible varying shift patterns and also to help if required in non-assembly areas.

  • Record components used at each stage of repair, modification and overhaul, for the purposes of reporting to the customer and maintaining repair history records.

  • Undertake any required training in related processes.

  • Where equipment does not achieve required outputs, does not fit together, etc. to investigate, fault find and diagnose likely causes and where possible correct the fault. Notify appropriate personnel of actual and potential problems.

  • Ensure quality requirements are met by working to technical documents and work instructions.

  • Carry out minor maintenance tasks and specified routine preventative maintenance some of which may be outside the assembly areas.

  • Participate in continuous improvement workshops to increase efficiency within the company. Utilise improvement tools such as 5S to improve the flow and workplace layout.

  • Raise Non Conformance Records as appropriate.

  • Communicate to Supervision/Manager any deficiencies in the production activity as they are detected and suggest any possible actions to correct these deficiencies.

  • To attend site to provide technical support and assistance to the customer, when required.

  • Comply with Company and statutory Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental and Personnel policies and procedures.

  • Carry out any other reasonable duty or task as instructed by your manager in pursuit of Faiveley Transport’s goals and objectives

  • Use MRP/ERP system to process repair orders and consume parts for stock control purposes.

General:

  • To comply with all company guidelines and policies regarding Quality, Health and Safety, Environmental and Human Resources.

  • To identify methods of improvement within the areas of responsibility and participate in any initiatives.

  • To liaise and assist other departments if requested.

  • To be willing to work flexible hours where department workload requires.

  • To carry out any other reasonable duty or task as instructed by your manager in pursuit of Faiveley Transport’s goals and objectives.

Qualifications/Background

  • Preferable if candidate had a degree or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering

  • Numerate and literate to GCSE standard

  • IT literate and fully conversant with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Must be able to use electronic test equipment and have experience in soldering

  • Good communication skills

  • Good team worker

  • Flexible attitude to work and a changing environment

  • Previous experience in electronic testing, fault finding and repair

  • Familiar with industry or improvement tools such as 5S and Kaizen

  • Soldering to IPC 7711/7721 standard (if not training will be provided)

  • Previous experience within the rail or automotive industry advantageous

  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP system is advantageous
