The Field Service Tech will diagnose and repair railcar movers (Shuttlewagons) along with competitive brands in an effort to provide excellent customer service. This position requires a self-motivated, assertive individual that is computer literate, and have excellent communication and customer relation skills. In addition, it is required that a person in this position have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. DOT licensing may be required.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze and diagnose (troubleshoot) equipment malfunctions or failures
  • Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled or recommended
  • Repair, replace, transmissions, final drives, steering, clutches, hydraulic components, electrical systems and air systems
  • Determine correct parts, order and complete task in a timely manner, as well as, returning all unused parts in a timely manner
  • Communicate with the customer and internal aftermarket team regarding all aspects of the work being performed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Technical school and/or training preferred

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of Mechanical Experience
  • 2-3 years of field service experience
  • Ability to service and repair heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and technical documentation.

Travel

  • All service work is completed onsite at customer locations, via company vehicle
  • FST’s are supplied with a service vehicle, and have the potential to travel up to 5hrs one-way, to support customer needs
  • 85% of travel is within a 200 mile radius
  • Overnight stays may be required
  • Other duties as assigned
