Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, you will be responsible for monitoring departmental profitability and producing costing, cost variance analysis and reporting. The successful candidate will have experience liaising with international finance counterparts to ensure forecast alignment and be available to attend early morning or late evening teams calls with US counterpart.

Key activities may include:

  • Manage month end requirements for the business unit, meeting corporate deadlines.

  • Work with Customer Service for the monthly financial forecasting process to corporate.

  • Facilitate and co-ordinate the preparation of monthly forecasts, causal analysis and other group reporting requirements.

  • Facilitate and co-ordinate the preparation of annual budgets, including input into 3-year strategic plan.

  • Monitor departmental profitability and produce departmental costing, cost variance analysis and reporting.

  • Review and approval of intercompany balances including treasury in house banking balances prepared by assistant accountant.

  • Prepare Sales SIP plan budget, forecast and actuals.

  • Review and approve credit limit changes and on hold orders/customers.

  • Work with local management to identify risks and opportunities in the forecast and assist management in managing risks; liaise with international finance counterparts to ensure forecast alignment.

  • Investigate all opportunities to remove unnecessary costs and improve profitability and where appropriate provide recommendations to the Vice President - Finance.

  • Manage yearly audits with external auditors.

  • Approval of balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations and adjusting journals.

  • Review and approval Fixed Asset Register and Capex items for consolidated sites.

  • Oversee regional recharges including consolidated site costs and allocation to local Intercompany entities.

  • Ensure accurate entry into Visual Lease for all right of use leases.

  • American Express credit card reconciliation and import into Sage (temporary process until replaced by individual corporate cards)

  • Ensures adherence to accounting principles, practices, policies and procedures.

  • Produce ad hoc reporting and provide guidance and support to managers for commercial decisions. 

  • Processing of month end journals.

  • Maintain all financial records and systems.

  • Commitment to Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements; and

  • Any other duties directed by your manager.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or Economics and formal studies required for membership as a CPA or CA;

  • A proven background of financial management in an operation of significant size

  • Knowledge of USGAAP (preferable);

  • Ability to influence others;

  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;

  • Excellent communication skills;

  • Effective organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills;
