Lead Engineer - Embedded Software Development Responsibilities: • Accountable for completion of embedded software design and implementation from concept development though implementation, validation, and production launch phases. • Design and implement embedded software changes for Wabtec bus solutions products in embedded C, in line with both Wabtec and industry coding guidelines. • Review, manage releases, and validate software changes in compliance with Wabtec bus solutions code development standards. • Debug and resolve reported issues, improve on existing code, provide post-production support. • Perform larger/architectural software changes in collaboration with the Group Lead and Senior Software Engineers. • Deliver on multiple projects in line with program schedule and technical requirements. • Collaborate with other teams (sales, marketing, testing, manufacturing, mechanical and electrical hardware design and development) to achieve project or product deliverables. • Comply with Wabtec’s design control and stage gate processes. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree or higher in software, computer, or electrical engineering, or computer science. • 6+ years of experience in developing, debugging, and releasing embedded software/firmware for use in the automotive or transportation domain. • Experience in developing low level device/driver code for bare-metal Arm based systems. • Experience with common SW process frameworks, awareness of C coding guidelines (MISRA C). • Experience with validation test strategies, tools for unit testing, and evaluating code coverage. • Experience with debugging and troubleshooting embedded digital electronics hardware. • Good communication skills to report on project status to key internal and external stakeholders. • Good technical writing skills to generate supporting technical documentation. • Exposure to programmable logic/HDL is a plus. • Exposure to Arm microcontrollers, experience with IAR embedded workbench, as well as use of contemporary change management systems (e.g. git or perforce) are a plus.
