Then let’s kick-start your career in Wabtec’s LEAD IT rotational development program.  

Over the course of 2 years, you’ll partner with the program to develop a slate of diverse assignments across IT and Software Development that align to both business objectives and your career goals. You will gain a breadth of experience across the business, with assignments in project & product management, data & analytics, IT Operations, software development (and more!) that will expose you to some of the most exciting emerging technologies and trends - AWS, machine learning, cyber security, and DevOps to name a few. But that’s not all! Your program experience will include leadership and technical training, contributions to program operations, exposure to senior leadership, and development of a lifelong network of professionals and friends.

Program Structure:

  • Full-time, two-year development program where members work within the Wabtec’s IT function alongside experts

  • Four, six-month rotational assignments covering diverse projects focused on product management, data & analytics, IT Operations, software development supporting critical functions such as Operations, Services, Digital Electronics, Engineering and Finance

  • Experiential learning and IT coursework focused on technical training, leadership, and business acumen

Eligibility Requirement:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, CIS, Computer Engineering, IT Security, ITM, Informatics, Information Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, MIS, Security and Risk Analysis or relevant STEM majors with experience in Software or IT; or graduate of a software/IT accelerator program

  • Minimum cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA or equivalent

  • Graduating by December 2022/January 2023 or May/June 2023

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills

  • A strong commitment to a career in technology with a passion and aptitude for both software and information technology

  • Up-to-date with current industry standards, trending software, and information technology development tools

  • Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in IT, software, or relevant area

  • Solves technical challenges through regular application of common design patterns and identify appropriate patterns for use in problem solving

  • Ability to understand coding standards that meet and deliver desired functionality using the technology selected for the project

  • Strong customer focus, ability to understand the value proposition for the customer, and commitment to deliver the best value proposition

  • Able to engage positively across multiple departments to establish clarity, vision, and mutual trust to achieve business goals

  • Demonstrated program / project management skills working on and leading teams

  • Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms

  • Contributes to creative solutions and challenges the status quo

  • Proactively learns new tools and identifies opportunities for improvement and promotes their adoption

Locations:

  • Core locations in Pittsburgh, PA; Chicago, IL; & Erie, PA

  • Other possible locations include, but not limited to Fort Worth, TX; Melbourne, FL; Grove City, PA; Atlanta, GA

  • Relocation lump sum may be provided for those who qualify

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently communicating with others to exchange information
