The Wabtec Erie site opened in 1907 and we have over 117 years of history at this location. We occupy over 345 acres with 20 major buildings, and we manufacture locomotives on site. Wabtec has 16 miles of rail and a 4.1-mile test track. How will you make a difference?

The Lead Materials Planning Specialist - you will demonstrate leadership in inventory scheduling and execution, communicating business goals, programs, and processes for the Materials presentation and planning team. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelors degree or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Supply Chain Materials/Manufacturing

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams

  • Ability to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact

  • Ability to coordinate one to two projects simultaneously

  • Strong and effective problem identification and solution skills

  • Proven analytical and quality/process improvement skills

  • Willingness to take on tough challenges and grow professionally

What will your typical day look like?

  • Schedule and expedite customer orders to align with operations.

  • Prepare and update inventory forecasts to align with business goals.

  • Manage material planning, processes and systems.

  • Review Erie, PA and Texas production accuracy to Oracle weekly report and adjust/level schedule or worth with production teams to prioritize and expedite.

  • Work with Business Leadership to level load and monitor locomotive cab line schedules when necessary to align with production.

  • Manage obsolete material and assist with development and tracking of material inventory metrics.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to assist in the optimization of existing inventory

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • Exposure to shop floor requires wearing steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection

  • Must be able to walk, climb, stoop, bend, and lift
