Role Summary / Purpose

The Lead Production Quality Specialist – Locomotive Assembly will demonstrate leadership through driving exceptional Product quality, customer value beyond expectations, regulatory assurance, and optimized Cost of Quality. In this role you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems during Locomotive Assembly & Sub-Assembly, drive proper RCA/CA on internal defects, poor workmanship and field failures, develop & execute objectives for up-stream manufacturing for continuous improvement. Role will require to have the ability to affect short-term & long-term business goals in Locomotive Assembly & Sub-Assembly.

The Role requires for developing and leading a team of Quality inspectors to achieve the business objectives. The role requires close interaction with Customer, Program, Operations, Service Quality, Reliability Engineering and SQE to maintain seamless flow for Manufacturing Quality of the Locomotives.  In addition, you will drive Quality function in Process Audit across plant for ‘Quality Assurance’ purpose.

Essential Responsibilities

• Shall be able to lead Quality during ‘Final Assembly & Sub-Assembly’ of Locomotives according to pre-defined requirements
• Shall be responsible for the ‘Quality Process’ of the end product, in process defects & functional performance and shall be able to drive structured RCA and CAPA for continuous improvement
• Should be Pro-active & Prompt to improve Product & Process Quality with the approach/focus on the ‘Quality Assurance’
• Shall be able to work cross functionally with Manufacturing, SQE, Fulfilment & Program to drive customer expectations within up-stream supply chain
• Raise NCMR and follow up with stakeholders for disposition, rework, and RCA/CA
• Make sure that Quality standards are set & followed per QMS and ISO
• Should record and track internal quality escape defects and drive for permanent closure
• Liaise with other stakeholders and provide training, tools, and techniques to enable others to achieve quality standards.
• Prepare Internal audit schedule (Process Audit) and adhere to timelines.
• Drive towards vision of ‘Zero’ escape defects within up-stream supply chain/manufacturing
• Prepare/review ‘Detection plan’ for incoming, in process and finished goods
• Participating in projects to optimize and standardize processes for resource optimization
• Drive EHS and compliance culture

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience Rolling Stock Manufacturing/ or similar industry type
• Strong background in the interpretation of Engineering drawings / Specifications & Manufacturing processes
• Strong knowledge of Assembly Process & Quality Control Tools
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to drive internal/external Customer Quality requirements
