Primary Responsibilities

• Act as primary/lead SQE for metallics suppliers in China with a focus on casting plus machined parts
• Functions as a liaison between sourcing, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to resolve quality issues related to manufactured parts and components
• Develops positive relationships and works closely with strategic sourcing to on-board and manage new suppliers
• Proactively identifies improvement opportunities and effectively resolves issues
• Facilitates and instructs SQE/suppliers in the proper use of Statistical Process Control and 6 sigma methodologies
• Provides technical process support to suppliers during launch (NCI) process
• Give recommendations &/or make technical process decisions to ensure defect-free process through program management
• Provide supplier quality functional and cross-functional leadership, training, and mentoring
• Help train SQEs and suppliers and make sure defined standards are properly applied (NCIs, CARs, audits, etc)
• Drive process qualification at suppliers (control plans, trial runs, process audits, etc)
• Develop and manage comprehensive improvement plans with low performing suppliers in collaboration with SQEs, Engineering, and Sourcing
• Develop, implement, and monitor advanced technical training and associated methods and tools
• Support/drive supplier capability and capacity to meet product requirements
• Manage appropriate tollgates
• Drive comprehensive root cause investigations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college in Engineering or Quality related field
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in process and quality improvement within a manufacturing environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Demonstrated ability to document, plan, influence and manage programs across cross functional teams
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and at remote locations without direct managerial oversight
• Ability to travel (50-70% travel, primarily China domestic)
• Strong problem solving skills
• ISO 9001 or equal certification
• 6 sigma/lean green belt preferred
