Who will you be working with?
As a member of the Wabtec Freight Services Organization, you will be responsible for helping our customer (Canadian Pacific Kansas City) maintain the reliability of their locomotive fleet by providing technical support and advisement to their Reliability and Maintenance teams. You will be part of the Wabtec reliability team all working to support the customer in troubleshooting challenging technical issues on various locomotive platforms.
How will you make a difference?
In this role, you will be responsible for working closely with our customer to diagnose and troubleshoot problematic locomotives, across multiple subsystems, that are continuing to fail, due to hard-to-find problems. This position will work on-site at our customer's facility and will require travel to other sites in your country as needed. You will be required to review locomotive data via fault/incident logs and repair history to provide a detailed troubleshooting plan in conjunction with the customer's local technical team.
What do we want to know about you?
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University. Technical Diploma or Degree is preferred
Technical expertise across all locomotive subsystems including traction, engine, cooling, distributed power, air systems on both the electrical and mechanical front
Technical experience on all Wabtec locomotive types
Ability to read a locomotive fault/incident logs, review history and diagnose a likely root cause
Strong communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy, strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Customer service or contract experience
Experience in Microsoft Office Applications - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Access
Strong influential skills
Leads by example, demonstrating integrity, professionalism and a strong work ethic.
Ability to travel up to 25% as required for business or customer needs
What will your typical day look like?
Participating in daily customer reliability meetings to understand troublesome locomotives
Review history, fault/incident logs and field information to diagnose problems on the locomotive, including customer communication
Warranty administration and teardown report analysis
Root cause analysis on failed components
Working with engineering & manufacturing on key systemic issues as required
Customer training and support across various shop locations
Participating in regular safety drills, discussions both internal and external
Wearing of the proper safety equipment and following all EHS rules/policy's
What about the physical demands of the job?
High understanding Safety awareness and a strong safety culture
Sitting or standing for hours in front of a computer, typing and operating
Getting on / off locomotives safely
Walking on hard and sometimes uneven surfaces
Walking up and down stairs
Wearing all required personal protective gear (hardhat, steel toe boots, ear plugs, eye protection) throughout the day
Speaking and hearing
Ability to obtain Wabtec's Level 2 Technical Certification in prescribed time from hire (usually 12-18 months)
