2nd and 3rd shift positions available

Summary Statement:  Sets up and operates compression presses to produce molded parts in compliance with established safety regulations and SOIs.

Essential Functions of the job follow. Management may assign other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

• Loads and operates puck machine
• Changes molds as required
• Sprays mold with lube as required
• Operates compression presses
• Assembles and weighs preps according to molding specification
• Loads prep into mold per molding specification
• Closes mold and begins cure cycle
• Uploads cured parts
• Visually inspects parts for defects according to inspection standard
• Trims, inspects, and packs as required in finishing specifications
• Records required information on reports

Machinery, equipment and tools used:

• Compression presses
• Molds
• Puck machine
• Forklift
• Hoist
• Spray guns
• Air hose
• Various hand tools (scissors, awls, wrenches, brass hand tools, knives)

Material, process parts and finished products used:

• Phenolic compounds
• Lube
• Inserts
• Cured parts
• Tape
• Cardboard cartos
• Bags

Education requirements:

High School Diploma or GED Preferred

Experience:

None

Special skills and abilities:

• Ability to read and comprehend SOI’S, safety regulations and inspection standards
• Ability to run multiple presses with different processes.

Physical requirements:  While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:

• Continuously walk, stand, (more than 6 hours/ 8 hour workday).
• Frequently talk; hear, use hands and fingers to handle; reach with hands and arms (up to 6 hours/ 8 hour workday)
• Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. (less than 2 hours/ 8 hour workday)
• Possesses close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• The physical effort typically applied in this job includes (applicable boxes are checked):

Work environment:

• Safety shoes, safety glasses arm guards and hearing protection are required.
• Dust mask required while working with raw phenolic
• Heat resistant gloves required on certain jobs
• The ambient temperature in the work environment during the summer months can exceed 100 degrees.
• Exposed to extreme surface temperature on molds
• Exposed to phenolic dust often.

LEVEL OF PROBLEM SOLVING

ANALYTICAL SKILLS:  Operator will need to read and understand routers, schematics, models and other specifications.           In addition, math skills will assist in understanding instruction and ensuring parts are built correctly and to specifications. 

PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS**:** These skills are beneficial when evaluating machine performance.
