Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the Machine Shop runs productively and proficiently through new and old processes to meet needs of the organization. This includes pushing shop projects, processes, and productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops, evaluates, improves and documents manufacturing methods.
- Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, develops, and documents work instructions to implement into manufacturing.
- Establish product cycle times, resource requirements, and related costs to provide information to aid in management decisions, such as capacity and productivity.
- Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient mistake proof production methods.
- Complies with health and safety policies and procedures.
- Supports company Core Values.
- Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Develop and implement cost reduction plans.
- Develop, implement and train manufacturing personnel in manufacturing procedures.
- Establish process/product capability and strive for continuous improvement.
- Analyze data from field failures, customer returns and failures within manufacturing. Recommend and implement design or process changes to resolve root cause failures.
- Determine disposition of non-conforming materials and assemblies.
- Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Work with production teams to achieve production schedules.
Minimum Qualifications_:_
- Engineering Technology degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or related engineering degree. Ten years experience would be accepted
- Two plus years manufacturing experience preferred.
- Solid modeling experience preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Strong lean manufacturing and Kaizen skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire others.
- Ability to travel when needed, minimal.
- Five years’ experience working with robotics. This includes troubleshooting and crash recoveries.
- Ten years’ experience working with all types of CNC machines. i.e., vertical lathes, Lathes, horizontal machines, vertical machines, and CMMs.
- Ability to write and understand G&M code
- Ability to program multi-axis and five-axis machines
- Ability to setup and operate multi-axis and five-axis machines.
- Ability to teach others how to operate and program five-axis and Multi- axis machines.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have the ability to learn and develop others
- Requires the ability to work without supervision
- Must be able to read Micrometer, Blue Prints, and Calipers

- The position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.
