2. PRIMARY PURPOSE

This position is responsible to oversee and improve manufacturing processes which include identifying areas for improvement, maintaining high levels of manufacturing and product quality, designing new processes, as well as ensuring cost-efficiency and conformance with regulatory standards.  The position will involve design and development of specialty tools and fixtures, researching automation techniques, testing new systems for efficiency and planning factory layouts to optimize production. 

3. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products and maintain product data in the MRP system.
  • Evaluate cost reductions, improvements and value analysis for engineering and manufacturing applications across the plants.  Prepare feasibility studies and thorough cost justification for projects.
  • Plan and implement capital projects.
  • Work with subject-matter experts and operations leaders to document business processes and develop supporting instructional materials. Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to design an effective plan to communicate and implement the new processes.
  • Create and maintain product routings and p/n specific work instructions.
  • Host kaizen events to optimize manufacturing processes.  Develop best practices, and standardized work for all changes made to the value stream.

4. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field (MBA/Master’s degree preferred)
  • 7 years industrial manufacturing experience, preferably in a process-oriented related industry.
  • Computer skills must include Microsoft Office applications, MRP (preferably Oracle) and 3D mechanical design.
  • Experience with Labview software is desirable
  • Candidate must have experience working with an MRP system to create routings and part number specific work instructions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modern manufacturing and production standard costing concepts and practices.
  • Experience with formal continuous improvement tools such as 5S and other Lean Manufacturing concepts, PPAP, creation of Mfg. Control Plans, Value Stream Mapping and Cell layout techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to communicate complex analyses and concepts to all levels of the business team.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to perform with high levels of ambiguity and complexity
  • % Travel is minimal. Have ability to travel as needed to perform the basic duties associated with this position.

Other skills and qualifications

  • Formal Lean or Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • Some knowledge and experience with Industrial Electrical/Electronics.  Experience with automation controls and electromechanical systems design & development preferred,
  • Must be able to identify problems, make quick decisions and proactively develop cost effective solutions.
  • Outstanding analytical, statistical, and reasoning ability for problem solving strategic planning, creativity/innovation, and judgment for complex decisions
  • Highly motivated, self-starter capable of working and delivering results on own initiative.
