About Melett

Founded in 1995, Melett is the trusted aftermarket brand for precision engineered turbochargers and turbo repair parts and is renowned for producing OE quality products to help the turbo aftermarket produce the highest quality repairs. In 2017 Melett was acquired by Wabtec Corporation, a leading global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions and value-added services for freight and transit rail.

This is a diverse and critical element of the new product development process within Melett. You will be working on multiple live projects from conception to product launch, developing complete Turbo’s and CHRA for the automotive aftermarket.

The role involves taking Original Equipment Turbos, stripping them down to component form and using reverse engineering techniques to produce CAD drawings and manufacturing specifications to allow “copy” parts to be manufactured. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing your projects, communicating with Melett UK and overseas sites, as well as regular project updates using the Product Database.

This role will suit an enthusiastic engineer who has an eye for detail and enjoys operating in a diverse fast-moving team focused environment.

Key Tasks:

  • Design and development of Turbos and turbocharger components
  • Completion of new Turbo Investigations
  • Inspection/ Measurement and Scanning of component parts
  • Design and completion of 2D AND 3D CAD drawings and models
  • Testing and validation of sample parts

Experience Required:

  • Product design and development
  • Good knowledge of 2D or 3D CAD modelling ideally Solid Works and/or AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of precision measurement/GD&T and general engineering principles
  • Good understanding of following product quality processes
  • Passion for product development & R&D
  • Organised, with good planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent team working skills

Desirable Experience

  • Production engineering experience
  • Understanding and experience of mechanical assembly
  • Understanding of mechatronic systems
  • From an automotive engineering industry background
  • Previous experience gained in developing turbocharger or engine components
