Job Description

The Plant Manager for Texas Locomotive will provide overall leadership for the manufacturing facility and warehouse. The incumbent will be responsible for the manufacturing of equipment to meet customer requirements and enhance their satisfaction while minimizing risks and costs.  They will supervise employees, develop and execute strategies, processes, systems, and tools to achieve this goal and will work cross functionally to deliver sustainable improvements in the plant.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams including Manufacturing Engineers; Quality Technical Advisors, Materials Technical Advisors; Business Leaders, Finance Leaders, Human Resources and hourly production employees to safely produce quality products to support our customer’s needs at the right cost to achieve financial goals of the business.
  • Drive continuous improvement, using Lean methodologies, across the organization and ensure awareness and adherence to stated policies and procedures via a comprehensive communication, training, and audit plans, resulting in a strong culture of safety, quality and productivity.
  • Drive continuous manufacturing quality improvements through standard work, work scope refinement, process improvements, tooling investments, and adherence
  • Incorporate Action Work Outs, Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and other continuous improvement tools to improve processes and performance
  • Define appropriate KPI’s (such as Cost of Poor Quality, DPMO, PPM, NCR, etc.) to measure performance, identify improvement opportunities and projects, and drive execution to deliver improvement
  • Provide full scope of leadership for a team of ~650 employees, including performance evaluation and accountability, annual assessment, salary planning, and employee development and engagement
  • Lead annual budgeting on operating plan development for the plant
  • Develop technical depth and credibility recognized by customers and manage customer relationships at multiple levels of their organization
  • Drive Teaming Methodology into the culture at TXL site consistent with the strategy across all Fort Worth operations
  • Depth in shop operations, manufacturing engineering, quality, materials, sourcing and Environmental Health and Safety

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing
  • Minimum 3 years in manufacturing leadership
  • Experience leading salaried direct reports

Desired Characteristics

  • BS/ MS Mechanical Engineering
  • Depth in shop operations, manufacturing engineering, quality, materials, sourcing and Environmental Health and Safety and specifically, locomotive assembly leadership experience.
  • Experience interacting with customers
  • Prior experience working in a Teaming culture
  • Supply chain experience in multiple business cycles
