Job Overview:

Principal Developer on Wabtec Flagship Dispatch Product called Precision Dispatch System (PDS).You will work in a fast paced Agile team environment and be responsible for developing and testing software solutions for new functionality, remediating defects in existing functionality, and contributing to team success.

The software you develop will be destined for services to be deployed in a cloud based architecture using the latest software development techniques. You will be providing senior level Java language software programming services and be the lead JAVA architect for your respective agile team.

In this role, you will:

  • You will be leading the development and integration of PDS and responsible for designing, implementing and testing new services using the Java language in the Quarkus framework.
  • Provide Java language expertise and mentoring to other developers on the team.
  • Provide Java language code reviews to agile team members
  • Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
  • Engage subject matter experts in successful transfer of complex domain knowledge
  • Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
  • Play a critical role of integrating all the deferent technical aspects of PDS to ensure all teams are following same standards and we are building a highly available, reliable and scalable cloud native application.
     

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • 15+ years Software Industry experience (Development and Architecture)

  • 8+ years developing microservices using Java Frameworks like Quarkus or SpringBoot or similar

  • Effective and productive software engineer in Remote working environment

  • Strong Java programming skills

  • Strong experience building and developing microservices in a cloud native environment (AWS,GCP, Azure, OpenShift).

  • Strong CI/CD experience

  • Experience building Avro schema’s and using a schema registry.

  • Messages and eventing services: KAFKA/JMS/ AMQP

  • Strong experience in container technology

  • Database schema changes using Liquibase or similar

  • Strong security background and experience with Authentication/Authorization using Open ID Connect (OIDC) or Java Web Toolkit (JWT)

  • Defect investigation and reproduction

  • Debugging developed code

  • Build processes and tools (JENKINS)

  • Agile Development experience

  • Railroad or previous Dispatch Experience is a big plus.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
