Overview:

The position is aligned to the Project Controls & Scheduling function in the Professional Services organization for Network and Train Control Office Systems product lines.  The Project Controller will partner with cross-functional stakeholders in and outside of the Professional Services organization including but not limited to Finance, Program/Project Management, Engineering and Operations & Support to achieve the project-level financial plan, schedules, budget and revenue targets for the month, quarter and fiscal year.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Management of the basic project level financial accounting and scheduling in Oracle and Clarity. 

  • Support monthly financial close, invoice and billing process for assigned projects**.**

  • Ensure compliance with Corporate accounting practices and procedures and internal controls. 

  • Ensure strong project accounting and schedule management of projects

  • Maintain A/R cycle from invoicing, collections and past due reconciliations to support positive cash flow

  • Own setup and creation of new projects, tasks and sub tasks to ensure satisfactory realization of project contract requirements as scheduled.

  • Maintain costs and schedules by working directly with project/program management and engineering to ensure up to date. 

  • Understand basic variances between actuals and forecast on schedules and cost information

  • Monitor and maintain all milestones and schedules in Clarity PPM and MS Project as needed

  • Monitor over and under allocations on a weekly basis and work with PMs and ENG to resolve

  • Lead monthly demand planning cadence and have responsibility for all communications around deadlines related to prep work and timesheet delinquencies.

  • Enter accurate demand planning, working with PMs and ENG (20% variance to EST)

  • Prepare reports as needed for lead PCs, PMs, Finance and Exec Leadership

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of project controls and/or project scheduling experience
  • Strong ERP/planning/ cost tracking system experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional areas in the business
  • Strategic thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proficient use of Clarity PPM and MS Project or similar systems.
  • Proficient use of excel for financial modeling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of and experience with Oracle.
  • Advanced knowledge of Clarity PPM and MS Project
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • Strong communication, clear thinking skills - effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions, anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve, creates actionable strategies and operational financial plans.
  • Prior experience managing project financials and schedules.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong organization and task management skills to management multiple projects, across multiple product lines and multiple time zones.
  • Strong commitment to business ethics and integrity.
