As a key Member of the Wabtec Control Systems Team, the purpose of the Project Engineer is to provide technical support and supervision during all project phases to ensure that project designs meet operational requirements, specified engineering standards and client standards, procedures and safety requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote and ensure the appropriate standards of health, safety and environmental management are adhered to.
  • Ensure work undertaken complies with scope and meets operational requirements.
  • Prepare schedules for design work and obtain approvals for flow sheets and drawings.
  • Obtain approvals from clients for documenting calculations, specifications and variations.
  • Supervise work to ensure it meets quality, cost and time restraints.
  • Monitor progress and identify potential problems in respect to budgets, schedules and engineering standards.
  • Identify contract variations, in particular, negotiate minor variations or additional work within overall scope of projects.
  • Participation in tender preparation and review.
  • Reporting on all facets of project performance as directed and required.
  • Responsible for technical performance of the works.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Considerable amount of experience working as an Engineer in Project Management.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel.
  • Experience (but not essential) with design software such as AutoCAD or Microstation.
  • Experience in Rail Environment.
