Summary:

The Project Manager role supports the Wabtec Additive Manufacturing (AM) team in the execution of projects from concept through customer delivery. The individual will interact with customers to understand the critical quality requirements, educate customers on Additive Manufacturing technology, monitor execution of project, and provide consistent updates back to the customer. The desired candidate will be able to handle all aspects in the execution of projects and be the bridge between customers and internal Additive Manufacturing team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects to deliver on time, to budget, and meeting the necessary quality requirements of the effort.
  • Work with customers of Additive Manufacturing team to evaluate potential products. Educate customers on how to find best use-cases of Additive Manufacturing parts, conveying the benefits of the technology and how to align the design with the manufacturing process.
  • Educating customers on areas that Additive Manufacturing is effective and determining best areas for the team to support.
  • Capture critical to quality requirements from customers and communicating these back to internal Additive Manufacturing team for quoting of projects.
  • Provide consistent updates throughout projects to customer, adhering to all requirements necessary for a successful project.
  • Progressing project through any necessary steps where necessary including working with suppliers to finish a project.  
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications_:_ (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or other related field from an accredited University or College.
  • 2+ years of project managerial experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of cost implications across the manufacturing process to analyze business impact.
  • Understanding of quality requirements for process control of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing in both polymer and metal technologies is a plus.
  • Knowledge of rail industry, particularly freight and transit segments is preferable.

  • Proven project managerial skills in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills to lead teams in the execution of projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Customer-centric mindset to progress projects through necessary milestones.

Work Environment: (The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.)

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions.  Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise. The employee will need to travel on occasion to a regional facility, up to 15% of the time.
