SUMMARY

 Reports to Supervisor of Quality Control Department

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspection:

  • Perform and document dimensional and visual inspections at all stages of assembly.
  • Read mechanical/electrical drawings and inspection instructions to determine specifications.
  • Utilize standard mechanical and electrical metrology tools, instruments, functional gauges and test rigs.
  • Being familiar with geometric tolerance measurements.
  • Process proper documentation and data collections from point of receiving through final preparation for shipment.
  • Coaching:
  • Coach Quality department employees in both short and long term planning, scheduling of duties and priorities.
  • Direct and provide guidance in dimensional studies on first piece inspections and products of concern.
  • Create training modules and deliver training classes (process, skills, safety, etc.).
  • Develop and improve on existing quality training programs for employees
  • Work towards reduction of cost through identification of systemic defects and variability, root cause analysis, establishment of sustainable control plans and standardized operating procedures.
  • Participate in team-oriented new product launch efforts, including extensive customer interaction.
  • Reviewing and interpreting customer and quality standards.
  • Design, specify, and track tooling and equipment.
  • Lead and coordinate the activities to support existing engineering projects and coordinate new engineering projects.
  • Act as a liaison between the manufacturing and engineering depts. to include trouble shooting assembly and design issues.  Must be able to provide technical details back to design engineering. 
  • Justify equipment costs and understand how to reduce shop expenses.

Auditing:

  • Develop suppliers through series of Audits, QPS training and Kaizen activities.
  • Lead and/or participate in internal and supplier audits.
  • Perform process, product, and lean audits.

Other:

Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

Must be a team player and have exceptional communication skills, with the ability to represent our company in a professional manner

Ability to multitask is a must.  

Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule.

Travel as required.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION

EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering, Physical Science or related fields preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • ISO 9001:2008
  • ISO 14001
  • Six Sigma

COMPETENCIES/ABILITIES

  • Inspection experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention to detail required
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Must be a team player and have exceptional communication skills, with the ability to represent our company in a professional manner
  • Ability to multitask is a must.  
  • Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule.
  • Travel as required.
  • IRIS Rev 2 knowledge is a plus
