DESCRIPTION

Conducts data gathering on product performance from internal and external sources, analyzes data for specific objectives, provides management with reports used in making business decisions, and takes the lead in working with team members and engineering suppliers in determining root cause of latent failure modes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Track and maintain a log of core product failures for various customers consisting of:
    • Incident date, failure details, failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and generating a closeout report if requested by customer
  • Identify opportunities for field service personnel to access core products for data retrieval
  • Provide a point of contact for customers to report specific problems or to make special request for technical information or field assistance
    • Log & track requests
    • Notify appropriate people to meet request
    • Follow-up on request and ensure proper closure
  • Gather data from various internal and customer data sources to support overall objectives of analyzing performance and ensuring proper response for our customers
  • Support customer conference call preparation by generating failure status report
  • access Wabtec Global Services repair database on specific products, analyze the date for trends and generate report for management consumption
  • Develop and maintain a common set of product reliability performance worksheets to be presented in a monthly management meeting
  • Process data from engineering tests and generate reports for further analysis
  • Take the lead on working with suppliers to determine root cause and work with engineering to implement corrective action
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts
  • Responsible for the coordination and facilitation of root cause analysis and corrective action for customer returned products (RMAs) to Germantown facility

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technical 4-year college degree
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in product performance data acquisition, data analysis and generating reports using statistical & quality tools
  • Strong computer analytical skills using Microsoft Office programs with strength in Excel and pivot tables
  • Working knowledge of statistical tools and application of statistical engineering principals in real world situations
  • Aptitude for technical analysis and understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering related product reliability assessment
  • Process orientation using logical problem-solving approaches
  • Highly sensitive to quality issues and proper resolution
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
