Wabtec Foundry is a provider of iron and aluminum castings for the Rail Industry.

Job Overview:

Wabtec Foundry is currently seeking a Quality Engineering Technician to join our team. This position is responsible to oversee all plant quality activities and improvement plans to ensure customer satisfaction and operational excellence.  This includes the management of all production-related tooling and process-control initiatives.  This role encompasses responsibilities including, effective quality management systems, quality objectives, process improvements, tooling improvement, new-product development and customer satisfaction. 

This role encompasses responsibilities in overall quality management, tooling management, lean manufacturing initiatives and production-related support.  This is a key role with responsibilities assigned to achieve the plant’s quality objectives and support successful new product launches.  This position reports directly to the Quality Manager.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Improvements related to scrap reduction and other manufacturing activities.

  • Daily emphasis on daily internal scrap reviews and customer concerns.

  • Issue tracking and action-plan development for quality-related issue/objectives.

  • Implement process improvements and process-control methods.

  • Maintain and improve quality systems/certifications such as ISO 9001 and AAR M-1003.

  • Support lab activities, to conduct daily process checks as well as outside services.

  • Develop and maintain control methods for control quality checks within the manufacturing process.

  • Create reports and presentations as a regular review process to ensure proper action plans are developed to achieve quality objectives.

  • Support production personnel in daily equipment and process concerns.

  • Support all customer quality requirements for development of new products.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education, Degree or Diploma in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Quality Control.
  • Strong technical skills in Foundry-related processes would be preferred.
  • Ability to problem solve independently or within a group.
  • Previous experience with ISO 9001 and AAR M-1003 would be an asset.
  • Strong organization skills and proven ability in problem solving and process improvements.
  • Experience with destructive and non-destructive test methods would be an asset.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong computer application skills, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work with various cross-functional teams and related assignments.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is required.
  • Must be willing to travel to customer sites on occasion.
  • Relocation support would be available if determined eligible.
