Job Summary:

Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials received from vendors; and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials subject to work-in-process rejections

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret specifications and part prints, perform inspection and some testing of incoming material prior to release to stock.
  • Perform the activities required to move Inspection Travelers through the Incoming Inspection Department:
    • Verify Traveler count and Part Number(s);
    • Perform Inspections defined by CLAM information;
    • Interface with Vendor Quality, Manufacturing or Design Engineers as needed to execute adequate inspection;
    • Perform Oracle Transactions necessary to move parts into Stockroom
  • Provide detailed reports of non-conforming material delivered from outside vendors and the shop floor.
  • Perform the activities required to process rejected material:
    • Inspect rejected part
    • Research defect and potential root cause; inspect material on hand for additional defects
    • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs and inputting data into quality database
    • Quarantine and hold material pending disposition
    • Ensure calibration and maintenance has been performed on inspection tools and equipment
    • Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality, safety, and departmental procedures

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate.
  • Good knowledge of inspection tools and gauges – ruler, caliper, gauges, micrometer, etc.
  • Familiarity with the use of desktop computers.
  • Ability to communicate, oral and written, clearly in English
  • Ability to Analyze Information and Report Research Results
  • Experience with Production Processes and Manufacturing Methods for Complex Cable Assemblies, Fabricated Metal Parts and Printed Circuit Assemblies

Desired:

  • Familiarity with the use of MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.
  • Experience and training in Kaizen, 6 Sigma and Lean Principles
  • Experience with IPC-610, IPC-600 and IPC-620
  • Good working knowledge and experience with pneumatics assembly and test
  • A background in production or prior military experience in the electronics field

Physical Demands:

  • Employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Employee is regularly required to stand for 1 hour at a time, with minimal breaks.
  • Employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds.
  • Employee is regularly required to see and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
  • Employee is required to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.
  • Requires daily face-to-face interaction with employees.

Work Environment:

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment.  Is occasionally exposed to loud noise.
