Who will you be working with?

Lead a high performing team responsible for leveraging data collected on locomotive and repair point data to optimize component cost, reliability, and asset performance to deliver productivity benefits.  The primary deliverable for this role is to reduce freight services cost & improve UXV productivity for Engine & Cooling COE.

How will you make a difference?

The leader manages a team that will collaborative cross-functionally to harmonize data & develop solutions, generating a continuing pipeline of productivity projects. Additionally, this person will develop and drive short, medium- and long-term strategy to optimize life cycle costs by closely collaborating with functional counterparts in Technology, Supply chain, CPM, Services, Risk and Finance.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-based curriculum from an accredited university or college
  • At least 8+ years of experience in Engineering, Field Services, Operations, Analytics
  • At least 5+ years of experience in a leadership role

What will your typical day look like?

  • Lead & manage a dedicated team of Life Cycle Cost engineers, setting tone and direction and working closely with Engineering, Services and Supply Chain counterparts optimize the material costs of customer service contracts focused on Engine and Cooling systems.
  • Act as technical leader to represent Operations & Technology team to drive cross functional actions insights & outcomes that improve productivity opportunity for freight services MSA/Parts cost backlog.
  • Develop & mentor productivity team members.
  • Create innovation pipeline to harness current and future field & UX (Unit Exchange) data.  Drive relevant, critical outcomes to enhance productivity. Leverage technology – https://e.g., analytics and digital twin – to improve connected data-driven insights from Engineering Designs to Field Operations to UX repair points.
  • Execute effectively within a matrixed organization to meet business goals, develop and support products, technologies & services over the entire Engine & Cooling life cycle. Lead cross functional reviews and workouts to efficiently determine plans, actions, & requirements to deliver or overcome issues.
  • Drive future productivity pipeline through innovation and execution of multi-generation technology plans of various Engine Technology families including next gen Engine fuels technology ( Hydroge, Biofuel)
  • Implement initiatives to continuously improve the responsiveness of the organization to business needs.
  • Maintain broad awareness of technical efforts within the work group in order to assure technical excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources and consistency of methods across programs. Set operating rhythms to validate tracking to plan and address issues where there are gaps.
  • Collaborate, measure & communicate cost out deliverables & status. Identify / communicate issues and risks before they arise and develop strategy / proposal to recover from those issues.
  • Be a catalytic leader working across the cross functional teams (services, engineering, supply chain, reliability) to meet business targets in productivity, component and system standard cost and monitor related UX variance.
