Summary:
Wabtec’s Precision Dispatch System (PDS) is an advanced software solution that provides real-time train dispatching functions that direct and control the movement of trains over a railroad network. This role is a Product Owner for one Software Development team consisting of software developers and testers on a Wabtec Customer Project. You will use Agile processes to provide the team with a clear and descriptive set of requirements captured as Agile Features and/or User stories and partner with the team to determine what can be delivered through balancing the need for new features, defects, and technical debt. The Product Owner will own the dev team delivery commitments, the dev team backlog, and its prioritization, and will coordinate the team's delivery commitments to be aligned with the larger customer project commitments. You will work very closely with the Wabtec NS Project Manager, Technical Director, Test Manager, other NS Project Product Owners, and the Dispatch Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Interactions with Customers, Product Manager, and Lead Product Owner to elaborate requirements into actionable Features and user Stories
Elaborate requirements into Features and User Stories, including strong acceptance criteria and requirement traceability.
Translate unstructured or ambiguous work requests into actionable user stories
Reviews Features and user Stories with the customer, Product Manager, and Lead Product Owner to ensure they meet customer and product needs
Engage frequently with the development team; facilitate discussions, provide clarification, story acceptance and refinement, testing, and validation; contributes to design activities and decisions
Understand security and compliance requirements; establish seamless integration with Cyber Security and Compliance teams
Ensures Development team Features and User Stories meet DoR & DoD
Accept/Reject Development Team Features/User Stories and defects.
Use software industry standard tools to plan and track features and user stories such as Rally or similar.
Own and manage the team backlog; continuously order and prioritize to ensure that 1-2 sprints/iterations of backlog are always ready
Organize and Facilitate Development Team Sprint DEMOs
Provides Status on Development team progress against sprint plan
Lead efforts to drive resolution of production issues across support and engineering teams
Lead & Represent Development team at project Sprint DEMOs
Leads Sprint Planning meetings
Minimum Qualifications_:_
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Technology, or Engineering
7+ years of Software Industry experience
4+ years as Product Owner for SW dev team in Agile Process
Highly proficient in spoken and written English
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Railroad or Dispatch Experience
Self-starter and able to set the direction for self and others when uncertainty exists
Minimal supervision to perform Product Owner duties
Proactive work ethic to energetically identify risks and mitigate them
Attention to detail to create Feature Stories, user Stories, DoD
Ability to flex leadership style to persuade and motivate teams
Adapts to new environments and changing requirements. Pivots quickly as needed
Physical Demands:
Employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
Employee able to travel if needed less than 10%
Employee able to use a computer for programming and interacting with his team.
Work Environment:
Employee will typically work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment
Wabtec works in a hybrid model giving employees the flexibility to work remotely on Monday/Friday and in-office Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday
