Role Summary:

The Senior Software Manager will grow, manage, and guide a team of controls and software engineers in development of our new control system. This team will own the design, implementation, unit testing, and software integration testing of Matlab/Simulink models and C++ software modules, ensuring that robust software design is defined, developed, tested, and maintained using the latest industry standards and best practices for managing complex software systems.

This role will establish a new sub-section and will look to utilize existing expertise, as well as fostering new talent development as we build a strong control and software development organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Build a high-performing Software team by utilizing existing resource expertise, as well as developing and attracting new talent.

• Provide hands on leadership, coaching, and training to a team of MatLab/Simulink models and software development engineers.

• Implement career development plans for the long-term technical and professional growth of the team.

• Own the full Software development lifecycle for controls applications, platform infrastructure software, and board support packages.

• Develop testing strategies to ensure high quality code, prevent software defects, and ensure traceability of test plans to requirements

• Develop, automate, and execute unit testing strategy for Matlab/Simulink models, C++ platform infrastructure software, and board support packages, ensuring requirements and software coverage

• Ensure requirements and test cases traceability

• Ensure team adherence to software engineering best practices and process, and on time planning and completion of design reviews

• Be accountable for the technical quality of work produced by the team, schedule, and budget.

• Communicate status on software development and integration to engineering leadership

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline

• Minimum of 10 years’ software engineering experience

• At least 5 years of experience leading software teams

• Demonstrated knowledge of the full Software Development Lifecycle

• Deep understanding of C++ software and firmware development and control software development in MATLAB/Simulink

• Expertise in the following areas: detailed scheduling, work breakdown structure development, basis of estimates development.

• Ability to prioritize and manage tradeoffs effectively to meet overall objectives

• Travel up to 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering with SysML with MagicDraw

• Experience developing control software for the transportation industry
