Position Summary:
Provide resources and expertise through a team of suitably qualified and experience specialists to partner with the managers of the business to drive for culture of zero harm
Work closely with all manager and act with a high degree of independence to provide key insight to business decision making regarding a broad range of safety, health and environmental issues.
The role has responsibility for development, management and implementation of the HSE strategy for site, and implementing the Group and UK Strategy
The role will lead relationships with corporate entities related to but not limited to HSE, and will ensure full and transparent reporting of all internal operational and business KPI’s
Key Accountabilities/ responsibilities:
Facilitate the creation, and constant evolution of the site 5-10yr HSE strategy linked to the wider UK and Wabtec Global vision. Align Goal deployment and associate KPI’s to track progress, installing recognition mechanisms to mark success and problem-solving sessions to address declining trends.
Develop and implement a plan to drive towards an Interdependent Safey culture, with a pipeline of HSE improvements with priorities linked to the business strategy, goals and metrics.
Work closely with the site management team to implement best practice and raiseaw awareness of initiatives which will help deliver the strategy, developing, training and coaching as necessary, instilling a ‘no walk past’ culture within the business
Coach and develop the SHSE team to partner with the business and ensure personal and professional development, setting clear objectives and supporting their delivery as required
Implement a site gorvernace programme, ensuring compliance with all associated legislation and management system requirements. Ensure all audits are carried out and ensure that any remedial recommendations are followed up.
Principal contact with external, regulatory, audit and trade bodies on health, safety and environmental matters e.g. HSE, EA, BSI.
Lead the continued evolution of the SHSE Management System to ensure that it is fit for purpose and delivers the competence required to meet all regulatory, safety and quality requirements.
Analysis of data, statistics etc. to identify areas of concern and priority areas for action, trend analysis etc. Develop and monitor H&S key performance indicators, providing management with statistical analysis and taking remedial action where necessary.
Monitor the implementation of Risk/CoSHH assessments ensuring suitable and sufficient safe working instructions are determined and communicated as appropriate.
Implement, manage and deliver the site SHE communication strategy. Keep up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health & Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry;
Manage records of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers, ensure compliance with RIDDOR regulations, and provide recommendations for ensuring non-repetition of incident/accident
Background & Experience:
A highly experienced SHE professional who has led from the front. Minimum of 10 years’ experience working within an engineering, operational business
Operated and able to demonstrate ability to work as a commercially aware manager, and a active member of a site leadership team.
Qualifications/Education required:
Essential Minimum 5 Years’ experience in a leadership position. Member of ISOH NEBOSH. Ability to lead and support improvement initiatives, engaging individuals and teams
Desirable
University Degree in a related subjects or equivalent experience and recognised charted professional.
Lean or other CI methodology
