Job Description

• The rail growing Sector now has exciting opportunities within their Signalling team for Signalling Designers to work in collaboration with their Global Design Centre for UK rail signalling.

The Role:

Reporting to the Team Lead/Signalling Design Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for production and production checking of detailed signalling designs.

For this role, you will have the following requirements –

• You will become part of an already successful and ever expanding in house Signalling Design team, undertaking the day to day responsibilities of a Signalling Designer including the use of Microstation software for production of design drawings and assisting the Design Manager.
• Ensure design complies with relevant technical, professional and group standards.
• Strictly adheres signalling design processes.
• Ensure timely delivery of designs with quality.
• Provide support for all signalling project related activities as required.
• Undertake professional and technical development as required.
• Provide guidance/Mentoring as required by the project.
• Ensure strict compliance of the documentation requirements of all relevant Standards and maintenance of records in the manner and the duration prescribed by Group/Company Standards, Quality Systems, etc.
• Assistance with the risk assessments and analysis using the appropriate tools and methods.

Experience Required:

• Degree or Diploma qualified in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Equivalent.
• Minimum 4 to 5 years Signalling Design experience.
• In possession of an IRSE Designer License 1.1.510 or 1.1.150C.
• You will have an up-to-date IRSE logbook.
• Registration with the IRSE, ideally to Accredited Technician level.
• You will have a working knowledge of Network Rail standards and adherence to them.
• You will have a thorough working knowledge of design software including CAD (Preferably MicroStation).
• Technical/project experience in signalling design;
• Current Knowledge of signalling design processes;
• Good technical writing skills and good interpersonal communication skills;
• The post holder should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels in the spoken and written word;
• A good attitude, self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure are vital.
