Summary:
We are looking for a Software Delivery Manager on Wabtec's Flagship Dispatch Product called Precision Dispatch System (PDS). This position is responsible for the overall delivery of software updates to Wabtec customers for a team of 8-10 development teams located in the USA and India. The Software Delivery Mangar will use Agile principles to perform project-level planning and risk mitigation across the 8-10 Dev teams to ensure on-time delivery of committed scope. They will work closely with Dev team product owners, Dev team scrum masters, system test leads, project manager, and engineering leaders on day to day basis. The Software Delivery Manager is an Individual contributor role and is not expected to manage people. The PDS is destined for services to be deployed in a cloud-based architecture using the latest software development techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, communicate, and maintain a detailed engineering schedule
Use Agile ceremonies and best practices to lead project-level processes to plan work, status work, identify and mitigate risks, and coordinate amongst teams
Proactively lead cross-project efforts to ensure engineering development efforts are coordinated and completed per schedule
Assist the program manager and engineering leaders to develop and monitor project execution
Define and manage mitigation strategies for technical issues and risks
Maintain, communicate, and update the status of action items for a given development effort, and ensure that action items are closed out appropriately
Prepare status reports and report project status to stakeholders and upper management, as necessary
Work with the program manager and engineering teams to ensure adherence to established engineering, security, and quality processes
Interact with customers and product managers to understand customer needs and timelines
Demonstrate practical experience in Agile Methodology to run scrums, scrum of scrums, and stand-ups to collaborate with engineering teams and support them with scope considerations, product requirements
Demonstrate an increasing understanding of product and project management
Demonstrate superior knowledge of software development life cycles to collaborate with Quality Engineering and Build and Release teams
Show an increasing understanding of the technology stack and its impact on the final product
Demonstrate ability to influence customers and product managers through persuasion and influencing
Minimum Qualifications_:_
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Technology, or Engineering.
7+ years of Software Industry experience
5+ years leading software development teams and 3+ in Agile Process
2+ years leading large-scale software projects
Highly proficient in spoken and written English
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Self-starter and able to set the direction for self and others when uncertainty exists
Minimal supervision to perform Software Delivery Manager duties
Proactive work ethic to energetically identify risks and mitigate them
Attention to detail to create plans and track status
Ability to flex leadership style to persuade and motivate teams
Adapts to new environments and changing requirements. Pivots quickly as needed
Physical Demands:
Employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
Employee able to travel if needed less than 10%
Employee able to use a computer for programming and interacting with his team.
Work Environment:
The employee will typically work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment
Wabtec works in a hybrid model giving employees the flexibility to work remotely on Monday/Friday and in-office Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday
