The Surface Transportation team is seeking a motivated Software Engineer to support
our Advanced Information Management (AIM) Systems developed for rail-transit dispatching and facility
access control. The successful candidate will participate on project teams to adapt the AIM rail control
system for new customers, tailor base product to new customers, and develop customer specific and
product enhancements. In this role, you will have the opportunity to design new software elements and
interact with end costumers in the rail transit industry across the United States.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design new elements or changes in scope of project software

• Perform software development to implement changes and upgrades for complex systems

• Participate in code reviews and knowledge transfer

• Ability to interact with customers and correctly interpret their needs and requirements

• Assist with software testing and documentation.

• Assist with documentation for procedures, training and enhancements.

• Meet schedule deadlines and remain within budget

• Follow and enforce engineering guidelines set in system development methodology

• Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

• Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology,
• Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
• Experience with coding in C, C++, Java and SQL
• Knowledge of Oracle or MSSQL database
   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with full software life cycle from Requirements Analysis and Planning to Support and Documentation
• Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Able to work independently or within a team
• Enjoy problem solving and committed to delivering high-quality software
• Positive attitude and eager to learn and improve
• Experience with graphics using Java 2D API and/or Animator
• Mission critical system and real-time development and support are a plus.
• Experience with SCADA systems desired
