Position Title: Software Engineer

We are looking to hire dedicated software engineers with passion towards solving tough and challenging problems for our customers. You’ll be part of the Digital Engineering team that is responsible for building real time and distributed software solutions. The Software Engineer is an unique position to help transform the way people and freight are moved around the world. Bangalore, India

You will work on innovative railroad automation products -  TripOptimizer® and Locotrol® XA and rail yard monitoring product - MyRailYard. You will work with Java and related technologies such as Hibernate, Spring Boot and Spring technologies, JMS, and relational databases. You will deploy the software on AWS and containerized environment using Docker and Kubernetes. You will build state of art user interfaces using Angular JS and HTML.

You will solve problems related to scaling and near real time response. You have to build solutions to handle large volume of data. You have the opportunity to learn about railroad domain, and about how large railroad companies of the world manage the operations of freight trains.

Essential Responsibilities

• Responsible for programing a feature and or a small feature set by collaborating with the product team to understand the requirements.
• Contributes to the team and works with direction from senior team members or management, beginning to work independently.
• Demonstrate the ability to help team members through pair programming and code reviews.
• Demonstrates awareness about product positioning and differentiations.
• Has the ability to evaluate basic technology choices and articulate tradeoffs.
• Applies principles of SDLC and Agile/XP/TDD/CI/CD methodologies to deliver high quality, secured, and scalable software modules.
• Skilled in writing code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.
• Skilled in core data structures and algorithms and implements them using language of choice
• Works with fellow team members to diagnose bugs and formulate solutions and proactively contributes for maintenance of availability and performance of system.

Qualification / Requirements

• BE/BTech/MTech in ECE /Computer Science /EEE /IT or MCA.
• 2-5 years of experience in software development in Java, micro services, distributed systems and database systems (JAVA, Spring, Spring Boot, Some ORM implementation, RESTful services, Oracle/Postgres).
• Experienced in building modern, responsive user interfaces (HTML, Angular JS/ React JS).
• Good understanding of popular Design patterns.
• Good to have experience in building and implementing solutions on cloud (preferably AWS).
• Good to have experience in building and deploying services on a containerized platform such as using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to Agile methodology and working with Agile development teams.
• Experienced in working in Linux and Windows environments.
• Experienced in SQL and working with relational databases like Oracle, Postgres.
• Experienced with CI/CD process and tools such as Gitlab. Familiarity with Dockerfile, Gitlab pipeline configuration files will be added advantage.
• Strong Debugging and Troubleshooting Expertise.
• Skilled in unit and integration testing.
