Summary:

Wabtec’s Movement Planner (MP) is an advanced software solution that provides real-time traffic planning. MP has a simulation-based planning algorithm that uses heuristics to make intelligent decisions to optimize train movements & improve railroad operations. In this role, the developer will work with customer teams to triage and understand complex issues leading a customer-centric fire team. This work will directly improve Movement Planner software to move freight faster at a lower cost while using existing rail networks. An individual will excel in this role by building simple solutions to complex problems, with a large number of variables and scenarios considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Act as a subject matter expert for MP Product

  • Interface with Wabtec customers, responsible for multiple points of customer communication

  • Identify and quickly resolve time-critical production issues

  • Deliver fully tested and shippable software for Movement Planner, as part of a Project team.

  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements to existing systems and platforms

  • Contribute to peer reviews with the intent of strengthening the quality of software.

  • Guide customers with continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD)

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Product Owners to maximize the value provided to customers with every release.

  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring, and Testing Techniques

  • Provide technology guidance that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project. Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering

  • Five years minimum experience triaging software issues in production or test environments

  • Three years minimum experience with Agile development methodologies (ex. Scrum, Triage)

  • Three years minimum experience providing professional oral and written communication; ability to articulate clearly and concisely

  • Three years minimum experience supporting mission-critical systems with 99.99% or higher availability

  • One year minimum experience with global teams, including time-zone flexibility

  • One year minimum experience as a subject matter expert for a software application

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work unsupervised

  • Strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise, and create solutions

  • Ability to respond positively to feedback, and implement process and procedure changes as needed

  • Familiarity with US Railroad Operating practices

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Demands:

  • The employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

Work Environment:

  • The employee will typically work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
