Wabtec’s Digital Intelligence organization develops customer-focused state-of-the-art software solutions targeted to optimize Transportation and Logistics ecosystems. As Senior Director of Software Architecture, you will lead a talented team in building the architectural capability and roadmap for software products helping achieve desired outcomes for our customers. This is a strategic role which defines the technology roadmap and data aggregation platform for global customers.

The Senior Director of Software Architecture will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision for architectural decisions within Wabtec’s Digital Intelligence solutions, with specific focus on Network Operations and Logistics and Analytics product lines.  The successful applicant will work closely with product leadership and the executive staff to ensure that product strategy and execution are in concert with the overall architecture plan. This role will lead a team of architects in forming architecture decisions and partner with the engineering team on implementation.

She/He will lead the definition of system and application architecture, provide technical guidance, vision, problem anticipation, and problem-solving ability to organization. The Software Architect team supports software design, microservices, AI integration, front-end responsive web sites, and backend Java and spring services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                          

• Responsible for providing technical leadership for defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure
• Help define and then communicate/apply technical strategy to daily activates and ensure products evolve toward the strategy
• Responsible for evaluating emerging & established technologies against product requirements and for delivering platform/ product solutions along with tools and processes to support robust designs.
• Be a technology advocate in business and customer interactions
• Promote design of and aid in developing high performing and scalable end-to-end micro services that can integrate with rest of the microservices ecosystem
• Evaluate technology choices and articulate tradeoffs
• Work with GMs, Vice President of Engineering, CTO, and business development teams to develop multi generation software technology plans
• Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
• Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products
• Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
• Have ability to innovate and lead strategic planning for upcoming product roadmap items ahead of engineering teams

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• BE/BTech/MTech in ECE /Computer Science /EEE /IT or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
• Minimum of 7+ years managing architect teams
• Proficient in multiple enterprise technologies, architectural styles, and containerization techniques.
• Expert knowledge and experience in Java, microservices, event driven architecture, frameworks, various open-source stacks, and relational databases.
