Job Summary:

Wabtec Railway Electronics (Part of WABTEC) develops products for the rail industry such as event/video recorders, brake and train control equipment. This position will give you the opportunity to develop innovative solutions and products for railroad transportation worldwide. Work with a talented team of software, electrical, mechanical, system and test engineers to apply and further develop your embedded software and problem-solving skills. 

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high quality software products in a fast-paced environment
  • Support and enhance the entire software development life cycle
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop solutions as necessary
  • Accountable for system and software architecture and design, including development and test methodologies 
  • Perform and guide the automation of unit, module, system and regression level testing on various software modules and systems
  • Ensure engineering processes and standards are adhered
  • Develop and execute plans, schedules for R&D and product development projects
  • Work with SW team to ensure Cybersecurity compliance and issue resolution

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS degree in a technical discipline

  • Proficient in C/C++/C#, Python, PHP, and embedded software development

  • Experience with at least one of following operating systems: Linux, QNX, FreeRTOS

  • Through understanding of RTOS environments, and SDLC

  • Solid work experience with software change management, continuous integration

  • Hands on experience testing/debugging software, firmware and electronic control systems

  • Proficient in RS-232/485, TCP/IP, UDP network programming including multicast

  • Proficient in multi-thread programming using POSIX

  • Knowledge of at least one of hardware architectures including ARM, Intel x86, 16- and 8-bit microprocessors

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge in Cybersecurity standards, and Rail Industry
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum and TDD in an embedded environment
  • Hands on Embedded Linux and QNX experience including device drivers, boot loaders, board support packages and kernel modules
  • Experience working with digital video recording systems and Ethernet protocols
  • Other desirable competencies: Hypervisor, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, GNU toolchain, Unix shells, Ubuntu, RedHat, Eclipse IDE
  • Experience working directly with customers and managing customer issue escalation. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Able to navigate accountability in a cross-functional organization
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
  • Established project management skills
